Giving Hope to the Hopeless

Welcome!
80 Strong Community Outreach helps women who‘ve had prior negative involvement with the criminal justice system and substance abuse issues with their transition back into society. We realize that a professional no-nonsense approach is necessary to break the chains that continue to bind the mindset of our participants we therefore take a ‘hands on approach’ to the everyday life issues that our participants struggle with by -

  • assisting the participants through guidance counseling, and
  • through the provision of the necessary tools, they are taught how a drug free, crime free life, is attainable.

We understand that there are underlying issues that led our participants down a path of self destruction. Through the no nonsense approach of our credentialed counselors, we help our clients understand better how to deal with the situations that trigger the type of behaviors that precipitate a life of crime and drug abuse and because many of our clients are dealing with a sense of hopelessness, we attempt to restore that hope by addressing the obstacles that hinder the reunification process.  We do this by supplying the immediate needs once a consumer is released from prison with provisions such as -

  • new underwear
  • a pair of new shoes, and
  • help with transportation through the issue of bus cards.

The provision of bus cards is for a period of 3 months and assists the participants in two primary ways.

  • in attending the mandatory meetings and counseling sessions
  • by relieving the worries and stress that tend to accompany how they will report to other required appointments and job interviews.

All the services we offer are reviewed by a case manager to assess the clients’ progress and to determine eligibility for continued financial assistance.

With the goal to close the revolving door of incarceration through intense aftercare and follow-up treatment, where feasible, family support is encouraged and our case managers involve family members in the treatment of our participants, essentially, every aspect of a person’s life is considered through the program with the understanding that the participant can fully participate and therefore fully benefit, in the long-term this will improve the quality of living for many of us in the communities in which we live.
