Mentoring
- The goal of this program is to assist our clients in building relationships. By assigning each client a mentor, our participants are given an opportunity to communicate with an individual who is a credentialed counselor or minister that will assist them with personal issues. Our participants are treated with respect and kindness. This program is very effective and our consumers are able to speak with complete confidentiality. Our mentors contact the consumers via telephone twice a week and take the mentee to various functions and outings twice monthly.
Reunification
- Because of the sense of loss when a person, in the first instance, is removed from an environment they are used to and function in, albeit, in a dysfunctional manner, to an environment that is alien, offensive and hostile to them and then to be released into the original environment again, it is important that the participant is reunited with family members and friends in a healthy way. Over a period of time, through the counseling we provide, we are able to guide the participant, in what to realistically expect and how to maintain a healthy relationship that is supportive and not dependant that all parties benefit, by doing so, the participant is further integrated into society in such a way as to appreciate what went wrong, why and how to prevent the same situation from re-occurring.
Relapse Prevention
- The goal is to decrease the amount an individual returns to using drugs, alcohol and living an abusive life-style. We do this by enabling the participant to appreciate that an old life-style is not the right life-style and that a life-style without the use of drugs, alcohol and or abuse can be achieved as well as having a fulfilled life.
HIV and AIDS Awareness
- The goal is to raise awareness of how an individual is exposed to life-threatening diseases. We educate the participant on how, through the use of drugs and alcohol and unprotected sex, a person can become vulnerable and have an increased chance of contracting life-threatening diseases.
Money Smart Budgeting
- The goal of this program is to assist our clients in appreciating day-to-day finances and accountability. This program assists our consumers with smart finances and budgeting. It is our goal to have each individual meet with a finance manager who will assess their spending habits, eliminate unnecessary spending and promote budgeting. We help our participants understand the difference between needs and wants. Each person will present proof of income and a service plan will be implemented. In order to receive continued assistance from our organization, all individuals must participate in this program.
Cognitive Behavior
- Through Cognitive Behavior Therapy we expect that most of our clients will have a new and more realistic outlook on life and use the tools necessary to maintain sobriety and to enable our consumers to learn to perceive life’s issues in a realistic way. Our licensed counselors teach, conflict resolution, sobriety, anger management, the importance of positive relationships and maintaining a positive outlook on life. Thought processes are addressed through homework assignments, journaling and one-on-one case management.
